Bellarmine University
We welcome Dr. Melanie-Prejean Sullivan (Bellarmine University; Catholicism), Matt Derrenbacher (Hebrew Union College; Judaism), Jason Hiner (Baha'i Community of Louisville), and Donna Lashley (Epiphany Catholic Church - American Sign Language interpreter; Catholicism) to discuss the intersections of faith and language. We will discuss the origins of languages commonly associated with different faiths, how the languages of different faith traditions have evolved over time, how the written or spoken word is central to spiritual practices, and how people have needed to adapt when experiencing the written or spoken word is not an option.
